After studying music and education at York and Cardiff Universities, Sue started her career as a secondary school teacher of music and drama. She was quickly promoted to a role in curriculum development, and spent 20 years working for various government departments sharing her expertise in learning, teaching, assessment, curriculum and qualifications. She has produced a wealth of education materials for Welsh Government, published research in the British Journal of Music Education, and her children's book (Can I Tell You About Stammering? Jessica Kingsley Publishers) has been translated into several languages.

Sue now works as a freelance musician, combining work as a gigging pianist with teaching, consultancy and writing. She enjoys performing at weddings and other private events, as well as accompanying choirs and supporting soloists and ensembles. She works regularly with Cor Aduniad, the Dorothy Adams Chorale, Lleisiau Voices Torfaen, and St Cybi Consort. She also plays for several Come and Sing workshops, the Forget-me-not-Chorus, and supports local schools with their music-making.

As an organist, Sue plays at Sunday services in St Michael’s Church, Michaelston-y-Fedw, and for weddings and funerals.

Married with grown-up twins, Sue is a keen runner and is currently getting used to being called Grandma. Though not fluent, she has an Advanced Certificate in Welsh Second Language.
